Netwaves vs. Coldcut [nsc004]Vrijdag 11 mei was het Coldcut en waren Netwaves en QuiOui gevraagd om de voor- en achterkant van Coldcut te verzorgen. Mp3j @@urk begon de avond met enkele netlabel klassiekers. Vooral
Walkman van Yagya wist traditioneel weeral de aandacht te trekken van een oplettende enkeling.
Een zelfzekere QuiOui begon dan voor een halfvolle zaal met een downtempo set, soms ietsje te kalm voor een vrijdagavond. Een knap intermezzo was een song met live saxofonist. De originaliteit lag erin dat de saxofoon niet als een jazzclich� werd gebruikt (titaturrutattataaafwietfwiet), maar eerder moest zorgen voor warme noisy geluiden (vrrrrrvrrrrvvvvvr) - moeilijk om uit te leggen, maar het werkte wonderwel ... Een kwartiertje later kwam de set goed op dreef en eindigde in een vette groovy tune.
De mannen van Coldcut kwamen toen met een show van een speelse aaneenrijging van chemical beats, electro, scratch, samples. Dit werd allemaal synchroon op het groot scherm gebracht met evenveel weirdo, geflipte, humoristische, kitchy geskratchede filmpjes. Knap voor het oog en oor.
Na hun show kwam Netwaves met Akwalek. Die had besloten een live setje te brengen. De grote verrassing was dat Matt van Coldcut na een vijftal minuten aan Akwalek kwam vragen of ie de visuals mocht verzorgen. De set van Akwalek was een knappe, wervelende mix van verwrongen, snerpende synths op rusteloze glitchy beats, die oplosten in knappe melodie�n. Het was ook enorm interessant om te zien hoe Matt probeerde mee te jammen met de visuals op voor hem totaal ongekende tunes. Toen hebben we een serieusere kant van Coldcut mogen bewonderen.
Kom zeker op de einddag van het Stuk op 24 mei zien naar Akwalek, een van de nieuwe beloftes in het Belgisch elektronisch muzieklandschap, zij het dan zonder Matt ;-).

The IA offers a new counter: in short, it not only counts the downloads from their pages, but also from the links outside their domain. It indeed gives a more realistic image of the downloads. Eg. while our latest Netwaves show about Emil Klotzsch would end in the 20-some downloads after 1 week, it now has been downloaded already more then 70 times, wow! And the older Netwaves download numbers also start to move again ... And everybody is happy :-)
